Active in the market since 1960, Pão de Gimonde was created by an uncle of the current owner in the small and cozy village of Gimonde, located near Bragançain the northeast of the Trás-os-Montes.
In 1986, Manuel Ferreira and his wife took over the business and in 2000 formed the company M. Ferreira e Filhas, Lda. This consisted of Manuel António Ferreira, his wife and daughters, making the whole family an integral part of the company. They are responsible for the decision-making and formation of strategy required for the development, quality and consumer satisfaction of the business, giving impetus to the tradition of homemade bread production, providing “the true taste of yesteryear”.
The secret of “the true taste of yesteryear” is kept carefully by the family, which has been baking bread in traditional wood-burning ovens since 1960, in accordance with the oldest recipes and production methods.
